Mission

Wake Up Atlanta’s mission is to target and educate Asian Americans and Pacific Islander millennials to increase turnout and representation in a historically under-represented community and assure them that their voices matter.

Summary

Wake Up Atlanta is a web-series led by Phi Nguyen and Kavi Vu for Asian American ATLiens to become more civically educated and engaged, thus increasing voter turnout in a historically under-represented community. The non-profit hopes to engage Asian American millennials in Georgia through fun and digestible videos that are focused on local issues and elections, and to encourage them to have conversations about politics and representation without feeling inadequate or out of place.

Experience

Kavi Vu is a Vietnamese-American spoken word artist and videographer who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. She considers herself a storyteller who hopes to inspire her audience with her passion for cultural identity and social justice. She believes that too many ideas are left unspoken and too many stories are going untold from generation to generation. Through storytelling and videography, she is committed to being a part of the movement that brings more Asian Americans on our screens, on the stage, and to the polls.
