Mission

WUNDERgrubs’s mission is to use micro-livestock farming efforts to educate about and advocate for entomophagy (eating bugs) in order to help address environmental challenges such as deforestation, water scarcity, soil degradation, and food insecurity.

Summary

WUNDERgrubs is a for-profit organization that manufactures and promotes edible insect products as a healthy, affordable, and sustainable food option. Through micro-livestock farming efforts, educational workshops, and food production, the organization hopes to educate and advocate for the adoption of alternative, more sustainable, proteins. WUNDERgrubs also fights to counter factors that limit access to low-tech and low-capital investment farming options.

Experience

Akissi Stokes grew up helping on her grandfather's farm. She went on to attend Emory University where she earned a B.A. in Economics and then worked 15 years in finance followed by 10 years in Information Technology. Given these experiences, along with her love for food, family and feeding people, Akissi decided to return to farming, and WUNDERgrubs was born.
