Brown Toy Box’s mission is to produce children’s products and exposure experiences designed to encourage and prepare Black children to pursue interests and careers in STEAM.

Summary

Brown Toy Box produces children’s products and exposure experiences designed to encourage and prepare Black children to pursue interests and careers in STEAM. The company’s culturally representative and curated STEAM-themed activities and programs helps Black children to not only widen their ideas of what's possible for their futures, but also inspire them to believe they can be successful pursuing these careers and hobbies as adults. Services include a subscription box and Brown Toy Box is working to help create a world where Black children are represented in all pillars of society and they know that they can be and achieve anything they set their minds to!

Experience

Terri-Nichelle Bradley led successful PR and marketing campaigns for 20 years prior to launching Brown Toy Box. In 2014, as the subscription box industry thrived, Bradley noticed a tremendous gap in the market similar to the gap in the traditional retail market. Toy companies and publishers were still not making modern, culturally relevant products to serve today’s Black children. Armed with an expertise in multicultural marketing and passion for entrepreneurship with a heart for children’s issues and women’s economic empowerment, Bradley a divorced mother of four wanted to start a company that took a holistic approach to building up the Black community.
