Mission

Freewheel Farm’s mission is to create a diversified urban farm committed to growing the highest quality Certified Naturally Grown produce for residents of Atlanta by turning vacant lots into thriving food oases.

Summary

The Freewheel Farm is a diversified urban farm in Atlanta, GA that is committed to growing the highest quality Certified Naturally Grown produce and flowers for residents of Atlanta. The Farm distributes its produce via CSAs (community-supported agriculture), farmers markets, and wholesale customers, with an emphasis on low access communities. Freewheel Farm is committed to environmental stewardship and sustainability as well as providing food to those who need it most through SNAP.

Experience

Brent got his start with farms while serving as a coordinator of agricultural programs for a worker rights non-profit. He became interested in growing his own food and has been farming ever since. When he moved to Atlanta in 2011 he was working at a garden center in produce distribution. A Grant Park landowner offered him the challenge of transforming an overgrown vacant lot into a farm, and Freewheel Farm was born. Brent hopes to continue to expand and replicate his model in other parts of Atlanta and to advocate for local food consumption.
