Civics 101: For the Food Movement

  • Atlanta Community Food Bank 732 Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard Northwest Atlanta, GA, 30318 United States (map)

Why should local food enthusiasts #votelocal this November?

This year the City of Atlanta will elect a new mayor, city council and school board. We know it can be hard to figure out who is running for office. It can be even harder to figure out what the day to day role of an elected official is. To top it off, why the heck should you care about voting?

What does a Mayor do?

Who is running for City Council?

How does my local government function?

How do elected official impact local food lovers??

These are questions we hear often, and we are launching to help answer some of them! Join us for a gathering of local food growers, sellers and more from across Atlanta as we discuss what matters to you in the upcoming election! What will happen at this event?

  • Free materials you can pick up for you and your neighbors

  • Quick introduction to our Civics 101 workshop and ability to sign up to host it with your networks

  • Fun games to test your local government knowledge

  • Discussion of local government and its impact on local food lovers (growers, sellers, etc)
