Your Voice Matters: Atlanta's Decision on MARTA & T-SPLOST

  • Center for Civic Innovation 115 Martin Luther King Junior Drive Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30303 United States (map)

Join us for a discussion of the upcoming MARTA and T-SPLOST opportunities to expand transportation in the City of Atlanta.

Our city has a big decision to make: what kind of city do we want to be and how will people get around it?

The next few weeks will set the direction of Atlanta for generations. Currently MARTA and the City of Atlanta are in negotiations for a list of projects that might include regional heavy rail projects, light rail on the Atlanta BeltLine, pedestrian and bike access, and enhanced bus service for the transit referendum coming up in November. The anticipated $2.3 Billion raised from the sales tax increase over 40 years will not be sufficient for all these projects, which projects will the city choose to prioritize and move forward with?

Atlanta City Council has until July 31, 2016 to approve a final list of projects.

We will explore:

  • Where do MARTA and the City of Atlanta’s project lists stand?

  • What are the potential socio-economic impacts of these different projects?

  • What are the potential of these various projects to shape the future of our city?

Throughout the evening you will have the opportunity to engage and give feedback to City leadership.
